Today is the first Friday in March, which means it is National Employee Appreciation Day. Here are four ways you can celebrate in your office, courtesy of Madison Approach Staffing Agency.
- Praise them quick and often
Want to tell your employees, “thank you for the hard work”? Try thanking them for their hard work! A simple “thank you” can go a long way, as long as it’s done correctly. Here are a few tips to help make your praise resonate:
- Set aside time to speak with the employee, don’t just stop by their desk on your way to somewhere else.
- Be specific. Why exactly are you thanking them? If you can point out specific actions, it will help deliver your message.
- Be consistent. When you constantly recognize people’s hard work, they are more likely to work harder in the future.
- Honor them with a Wall of Fame
Take your praise a step further by assembling a Wall of Fame in your office. This idea is cheap, easy to implement, and can really pay dividends. Honor your best employees with their picture and a description of their hard work. This informs the whole company of their efforts and motivates others to work harder.
- Treat them to lunch
Who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch? The best way to your employee’s heart is through their stomach. Show appreciation by ordering food into the office or taking them out to a local restaurant – you could even schedule a fun team-building activity along the way.
- Give them a raise or bonus
If you are feeling especially generous, monetary rewards are always welcomed with open arms. You can decide to honor an employee with a one-time bonus, or permanently increase their pay rate with a full-blown raise.
